Miami Hurricanes Hate, What a Joke (Written by Matthew Rivera)

A debate has come up recently questioning if in college football and the NFL if they should overturn the result of a game that ended on a bad call or where a bad called negatively affected the game.  This debate all started since The University of Miami defeated the Duke Blue Devils on October 31, 2015. The Hurricanes won 30 -27 on the last play which was an 8 lateral kickoff return for a touchdown. While many people hate the Miami Hurricanes football program this has stirred up that hate since Saturday.  There are many who believe the refs decided the outcome of the game. Some believe that on one of the laterals running back Mark Walton’s knee was down. Since the refs missed that people also question if there was a block in the back and a penalty should have been thrown for players running on to the field.  Regardless if it was fair or not the hurricanes won the game. Recently people have proposed reviewing outcomes of NFL and college games. They have also started to bash the hurricanes program for taking the win and say the hurricanes should forfeit the game. I find both of these things crazy. Duke isn’t the first or last team in any sport to get screwed over by a bad call. When you have human refs the outcome of games will not always be perfect. I do not think we should start reviewing the outcome of games what happened in the game happened and it should be left alone.

 Every sport has experienced a bad call negatively affect a game. I believe all this debate and controversy is because it is the famous Miami Hurricanes. Shame on people who say they should give the win back or forfeit the game. Shame on people who say the kids on the team acted in a disrespectful manner. What the hurricanes did in the past happened in the past it should not influence how people view the program now. Every team in every sport goes through a rebuild which is what is happening to the hurricanes right now. Really why should the kids be ashamed for celebrating they are kids playing a sport they get excited its normal and plus the hurricanes went through a tough week of course they are happy to be playing football and winning especially after the Clemson lose. What a joke to those who say the hurricanes should forfeit the game or give back the win does everyone just forget about 2001 against Ohio State? That terrible call that gave Ohio State the national championship, yeah remember now. It is only convent to hate on the Hurricanes. Especially those on ESPN you are idiots if you want be fair do not just be one sided. You guys should be fired. Finally those who say that the hurricanes coaching job isn’t good. Are you serious? First of all it is in Miami, which has great weather, lot of things to do, the school is in Coral gables one of the most beautiful areas in Miami and oh yeah the high school talent is crazy good down here perfect for recruiting. So haters keep hating on the Hurricanes you all are idiots anyway and Canes fans hang in there the program is bound to bounce back soon.

NCAA Football Matchup: Arizona at Utah

Week 13 is another step closer and closer to the playoffs. While there are no games that would greatly impact the playoff standings, there are huge Pac 12 south implications in this game.

What To Watch:


Utah: Look for Utah to throw the ball. Usually, that's what they do best. However, this year running the ball has been the more successful thing to do. This year, Utah is ranked 54th in rushing yards, while they are 99th in passing. If the Utes can get the passing game going, they can be pretty successful in this game.

Arizona: With Arizona, passing the ball is the key. Led by Anu Solomon, the Wildcats are ranked 14th in the nation for most passing yards per game. Their go-to targets are receivers Cayleb Jones and Austin Hill. If the Wildcats get their passing game flowing early, they will be VERY hard to stop.




X-FACTOR: Utah & Arizona 's Defense
With these two teams being fairly evenly matched , each team's defense will determine which way the game goes. With Utah having home field advantage, Arizona must perform well early. Utah has put up over 50 points in 2 games this year. (Both against mediocre teams, but it surely means that they can put up points.)

NCAA Football SEC Game of the Week: Ole Miss at LSU

The SEC game of the week is #3 Ole Miss traveling to Louisiana to face the #24 LSU Tigers. In a game in which has significant meaning, there will be a few things to look for in this game. How will Ole Miss respond now that they are the targets in games? Will LSU be able to knock off Ole Miss and slow down their offense?

WHAT TO WATCH:

LSU:  LSU has a record of 5-2, losing to #1 Mississippi St. and #5 Auburn. LSU lost to Mississippi St. 34-29, in a game that Mississippi St. gained national attention. If it weren't for these two losses, LSU would easily be a top 5 team. One thing that LSU possesses is the ability to score. This season, the LSU Tigers has scored at least 28 points in all but ONE game. Look for the LSU to really try to put up points against the Rebels, especially since they have the home field advantage. The Tigers rank 30th in rushing, yet they are 98th in passing. The rushing attack is led by a two headed monster (Leonard Fournette and Kenny Hillard). Fournette and Hillard have combined to score 13 TD's and almost 900 yards. If they want to defeat the Rebels, they MUST make sure that they get the running game going. Ole Miss is simply absolutely NOTHING to mess around with on defense. Ole Miss only gives up an average of 10 points a game! That is not alot compared to the 35 points that the Tigers average per game.



          In order for LSU  to be successful, they must find unconventional ways to move the ball up and down the field. LSU does have two quarterbacks (Sophomore Anthony Jennings and Freshman Brandon Harris) that have the ability to run and throw the ball. Look for a number of quarterback draws and options. Both of these quarterbacks have over a 50% completion rate. They will have to be on their A-games to give LSU a chance.

Ole Miss:  After coming off yet another sound win against Tennessee, Ole Miss seems to be on a roll like no other team. With a defense that ranks 1st in points against, and a offense that averages 282 passing yards a game, it's no wonder why they are ranked #3.
               

                  The offense begins and ends with quarterback Bo Wallace. Wallace has been able to throw for 1899 yards and 17TDs. Wallace been able to give throw to many targets such as Laquon Treadwell, and Vince Sanders, and Cody Core. All three of these receivers have 4 touchdowns. In order to win, Ole Miss must make sure that they are being able to move the ball with their passing game. Look for Ole Miss to try and run the ball. The running game is led by back Jaylen Walton. Walton has been able to rush for nearly 400 yards and 4TD's.  If Ole Miss can rush the ball, they will be dynamic and tough to stop.

             
                 While their offense may be very solid, their defense has been the key to their success. The most points they have allowed this season is 20. In addition, they gave 20 points to a Texas A&M team that averages 364 passing yards per game. The defense has been able to take on team after team, and take away their strengths.

LSU: Anthony Jennings
 If LSU wants to have a chance to win, they MUST have good quarterback play. They will need to have a balanced attack if they want to keep the game close. LSU starter Anthony Jennings will have to play well, getting the ball out quickly and making the accurate throws. He will not have to do it alone. He will have the rushing attack behind him, and he will have the help of quarterback Brandon Harris. Since Jennings is the quarterback on the field for majority of the time, he will determine how much the ball moves.

Ole Miss: The Defense
In this game, it will be very important for the defense to make an impact early. It will be a night, nationally televised game. Louisiana State will be hosting the number 3 team in the country AT HOME. Look for LSU to feed off of the crowd, especially on their first offensive possession. If Ole Miss is able to for LSU to become one dimensional, they can psychologically take the crowd out of the game.



PREDICTION:
Ole Miss: 24-21

NCAA Football Rivals: FIU vs FAU (Shula Bowl)

This Thursday, a rivalry game will be played as Florida International University will play Florida Atlantic University. These two teams consider themselves rivals since the schools are only one hour apart. While these are two little known universities nation wide, this should be a very interesting game!


WHAT TO WATCH:

In this very young series, FAU has come out more victorious , winning 9 out of the 12 times they have faced FIU. This year, the game will be held at FIU, so they will have a better chance of winning on their home field.

FAU: FAU is a pretty balanced team overall, average 130 yards per game rushing and 185 yards per game. Look for FAU to try to exploit FIU by making some big plays. Look for FAU to try to establish a run game early, then mix up the playbook as the game continues. While FIU does give up a lot of yards, FIU is 50th in the nation in points against. FAU must capitalize in the red zone in order to win the game.



FIU: FIU has a slightly better ranked passing attack than rushing attack. In this game , look for them to be in the Shotgun formation quite a bit. In addition, they will look to find ways to give their faster players the ball. With that being said, although they haven't had great success running the ball, look for them to try to establish the run game. If they can do so, their offense will open up.


X FACTOR: 


FAU: Jenson Stoshak

Since FIU is ranked lowly in the passing game , look for FAU to take a number of shots down the field to Jenson Stoshak. Stoshak has an average of 21.1 yards per catch this season. If FAU can make the big plays on offense, they will force FIU's offense to score. Look for FAU to find a way to put the ball in this guy's hands. In addition, look for quarterback Jaquez Johnson to run around and make plays. Jaquez currently has rushed for 3 touchdowns this season.

FIU: Defense, Defense, Defense! That will be key if FIU wants to win the game. All players on defense must step up, and maybe even have to score to help FIU win the game. Look out for players like Treyvon Williams to make an impact in the game. If the defense can force turnovers, FIU's offense will have a much better chance of putting points on the board. FIU has managed to have a +10 turnover margin.

 PREDICTION:
Usually, I would go with FAU in this game. They have won the last 5 out of 6 meetings between the two. However, FIU has looked alot better throughout the first 5 games of the season. I predict that FIU will win 17-14.

NCAA Football Thursday Night Game:UCLA at Arizona State University

This game is not only the game to watch on Thursday, but it also may be the game of the week. This is only the game in which two ranked teams are playing each other. Arizona State  will look to defeat the Bruins. They seem to have a balance on offense, being ranked 12th in the FBS in rushing.

UCLA is led by quarterback Brett Hundley. The Bruins have high hopes this year. They at least expect to win the Pac-12. The offense will look to throw the ball.

WHAT TO WATCH:

Arizona State: Look for Arizona State to blitz and attack the quarterback. They have many blitzing schemes that will put pressure on Hundley. Hundley is already playing injured, so this may get ugly.

UCLA: The Bruins would love to establish a run game. Hundley is hurt, and the offensive line is not good at all against the run. If they are able to establish a run game, they can do alot of damage. If not, look for Hundley to put the team on his back.



PREDICTION:
While I do think that it will without their starting QB, I believe that Arizona State will win the game.

SEC Football Game of the Week: Georgia at South Carolina

Although early in the season, this is still definitely a game worth watching. This Saturday, the Georgia Bulldogs will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks. Both teams are ranked, with Georgia ranked 6th and South Carolina ranked 24th. An early SEC game such as this may have a huge impact later on in the season. For Georgia, a win on the road like this will keep them on pace for potentially making the NCAA College Playoffs.




WHAT TO WATCH
Georgia: Coming off of a year in which Georgia was plagued by injuries, look for them to bounce back this season in a major way. Against Clemson, Georgia was able to run very the ball extremely well! Running back Todd Gurley played like a complete beast. Gurley was able to rush for 198 and 3 touchdowns. Look for Georgia to give Gurley close to 20 touches in this game. Quarterback Hudson Mason had an efficient game, throwing 18/26. The Georgia gave up close to 300 yards and 21 points against a good Clemson team. Look for Georgia to play a mixture of coverage packages since South Carolina has been heavily passing the ball this year. In passing yards, they rank 26th in FBS. Rushing yards? 106th.

South Carolina:
After their loss to Kenny Hill and the Aggies' incredible performance, the Gamecocks were able to bounce back and defeat ECU by 10 points.While Hill did take the country by storm, Dylan Thompson did perform very well, throwing for 4 touchdowns. Look for Thompson to take a couple of shots down the field to receivers Nick Jones and Pharoah Cooper. In the rushing game , running back Mike Davis was able to find some ground. He rushed for over 100 yards and a pair of touchdowns in last week's game. While we know that South Carolina will be throwing much throughout the game, they would be ecstatic if they could get Davis going against a tough Georgia defense.




X-FACTOR

Georgia: This week's x-factor will be Hudson Mason. Gurley will come ready to play, but South Carolina will have a defensive scheme that will try to contain him. Most teams tend to pack the middle when trying to contain a running back. Look for the safeties of South Carolina to either blitz or RB watch from time to time.  If Mason could continue to move the ball and be efficient like he has, big play opportunities will be there.

South Carolina: The week's x-factor for South Carolina will be Mr. Mike Davis. He will be a big factor in this game, as Georgia will look to for the Gamecocks to be one-dimensional. If Davis and the offensive line can move the ball with the running game, this will put pressure on Georgia to play for both the pass and the run. If they are unable to do so, Georgia will simply rush the quarterback and play in multiple coverages.

PREDICTIONS
With a tough game such as this, both teams will come to play. Both teams basically face each other each and every year, with both their regular season and conference record hanging in the balance. Since the game is in Georgia, they will have a good advantage. I predict that the Georgia Bulldogs will win 24-21.

Rating Teddy Bridgewater

Miami native went from leaving a legacy at Miami Northwestern all the way to become a potentially top 5 draft pick. Teddy attended the University of Louisville and started for two years. There, he put the team on his back. Bridgewater started playing midway through his freshman season and never looked bad. In Teddy's sophomore year, he threw for over 3,000 yards and 25 touchdowns. In his junior season, Bridgewater only improved, throwing for nearly 4,000 yards 30 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions!

With a touchdown to interception ratio like that , it's easy for any team to think twice about not selecting Bridgwater is a tough-minded prototypical sized quarterback, standing 6 feet 3 inches. Teddy possess a strong arm with a very good touch on the ball. Similar to Manziel, Bridgewater is also a guy that rises to the occasion with his back on the wall. Teddy led the Louisville Cardinals to victory past Rutgers his sophomore season after being pretty badly injured.

Although Teddy has a lot of good qualities, there are a few concerns. While standing at 6'3, alot of GM's say he will need to get stronger in order to absorb those NFL hits. Also, Teddy is not one of the fastest people on the field, he doesn't possess a good ability to aviod pressure with his feet. He is the type of quarterback to simply throw it away, which will add longevity to his career.

I think that Teddy is the most NFL ready quarterback that can be found in the draft right now. While he does have alot of improving to do , I think that he will be a very solid quarterback in the NFL. My Madden Rating for Teddy Bridgewater is: 74.

EA Sports does not reach agreement with NCAA: Will this be the last "NCAA" football game?

    With the contract between the NCAA and EA Sports ending soon, the chance for a renewal has been demolished. The NCAA and EA have agreed to part ways, as they could not successfully come together. Although the game will not be affiliated with the NCAA, college football games will still be made. According to bleacherreport.com, the game will no longer include NCAA names and marks. How will the game operate without those marks? Will this new version of the game be as popular as "NCAA Football"??  Well as of now, that remains to be seen. However, EA Sports is working with the CLC (Collegiate Licensing Company) on allowing teams to be able have their particular marks within the next generation of college football games. The fact that  EA Sports is working with the CLC is pivotal because most of the Division I football schools are licensed under this company. If EA is able to pull that off, then the game should be just fine; But until then,  EA Sports will have to decide on many changes in the near future.
