World's Highest Net-Worth Team

In the United States, sports such as football and basketball are most popular. However, the international sport is futbol (soccer). This statement is proven by three of the top five highest Net-Worth Teams being soccer teams. So Who's number 1?

The number one team is none other than the team led by the most popular futbol player in the world: Real Madrid C.F.  Real Madrid is worth a whopping $3.26 billion dollars! How does a team even become worth that much? Let's take a brief look at the history of the team.

History
Founded in March of 1902, Real Madrid is one of the teams that began originally by people doing it for fun. Originally named Madrid FC, the "Real" (which stands for Royal) part was added with the permission of King Alonso XIII. The 1940's and 50's were great for Madrid under President Santiago Yeste. In the 50's the team began to have a youth program that allowed them to discover up and coming talent. The first superstar that came out of this program was Alfredo Di Stefano. Between 1956-1960, Real Madrid won five consecutive UEFA Champions League Titles. Success would only continue through the 70's and 80's as Madrid won a total of five league championships, four Spanish cups , and three Spanish Super Cups. Since then, they have seen the likes of David Beckham, Robinho, Sergio Ramos, and Cristiano Ronaldo. Madrid has been and will be one of the powerhouse organizations in the world.

Revenues
Like any sports organization, there are core supports. Well, Real Madrid has MANY of them. Real Madrid has an average of approximately 68,000 season ticket holders. While being within the top five ranked world richest teams, their revenues to wages put them at the number one spot. And they have yet to move since.

Cristiano Ronaldo/LeBron James

When you think of the latest sports superstars that would be named in any conversation, two that come into mind are: LeBron James and Cristiano Ronaldo. While each of these two do play their respected sports, they are arguably the best players in their sport. Let's breakdown the two:

Players:
LeBron James
Cristiano Ronaldo
Points/Goals
27.5 Points Per Game
69 goals in 2013 alone
Assist
6.9 Assist
118 Career Assist (2003-2014)
Awards
4 time MVP
2 time PFA Players’s player of the year
Current
Contract
6 year , 110 million
6 year, 132 million

As we see here , both are highly ranked in their respective sports. My belief is that both are in their prime. Both Ronaldo and James are 29 years of age. Coming from different backgrounds, both had a lot of hype as a youngster. In the United States, James had hype around him since he was in high school, being the first high school athlete to ever be on the front cover of an ESPN magazine. Ronaldo was able to show the entire world has good he was dating back in the 2006 World Cup. In that World Cup, Ronaldo put Portugal on his back. In the round of 8, Ronaldo scored twice in the penalty shoot-out to win the match against a dominant England team. That year, Portugal went on to finish 4th in the tournament.

STYLES OF PLAY:
When comparing James to Ronaldo, they have a simple style in which they affect the game. James doesn't necessarily need to score to be very effective in a game. James has the ability to setup teammates with his passes, defend the other teams best player, and rebound just as well as most big men in the NBA.

Playing LW , Ronaldo has the ability to draw defenders towards him in order to pass it to Postiga to score a goal. While Ronaldo will be looking to score his points, he isn't afraid to make the necessary pass.  Ronaldo's passing which will definitely help Portugal if they want to contend for a World Cup.

CLUTCH GENE:
Both players are one of the best players under pressure up to date. In LeBron's career, it took him a while to build a reputation as a clutch player. In fact, early in his career he was seen widely as a player that folds under pressure. The defining moment for him overcoming his bad reputation occurred in the 2012

As both James and Ronaldo partake in some of the highest level of competition in their careers , look for these qualities that make them who they are.
