Will Larger Universities Follow Suit?

In an earlier report via USA today, East Carolina University has decided to pay players. Yes, pay players.

In January, the NCAA passed a policy that allows universities to increase the value of an athletic scholarship. This means that not only books, room and board would be covered, but also things such as transportation to and from school, and academic-related items would be covered with the stipend. The following conferences aided in the passing of the policy: AAC, BIG 12, BIG 10, PAC-12 , SEC, and the ACC.

With this policy being passed, it does NOT mean that universities have to do this. Each school has the flexibility to manage how they would follow the policy at their respected schools if they choose to do so.

With East Carolina taking a huge step, will larger universities follow suit?
