My prediction was Golden State in 5, and I expected most of those games to not be close. However, LeBron James and a depleted Cleveland Cavaliers team proved that they were, in fact, a tough, gritty group that wouldn't let injuries be an excuse for losing. LeBron James had one of the best series ever for a player on either the winning or losing team, but in the end it wasn't enough to defeat a team in the much tougher Western Conference. I still believe the Cavs wouldn't have made it out of the West even if they had a full squad, and I still believe that the Cavs had a free trip to the finals; however, I can't deny that they played one heck of a series.
It wasn't just LeBron James. Mozgov, Delly, and Thompson all stepped up for their injured teammates and proved themselves valuable NBA players. The Warriors just had too many weapons on their roster however, as they had an MVP and 10 players or more who made a contribution in the series, not to mention a coach who was not afraid to make drastic changes in order to find a winning formula. So congratulations to the Golden State Warriors on their first NBA title in nearly 40 years. Kudos to the Cleveland Cavaliers for making the most of their depleted roster.
