A Break from the NBA

A no hitter in baseball is a game in which a team was not able to record a single hit. On average, two a year occur in the MLB. It is still possible for the opposing team to get to base via walk, error, or hit batsman.

Last night Giant’s pitcher, Chris Heston, pitched a no-hitter against the New York Mets. This was only Heston’s 14th game played in the MLB and his style of pitching was artful and crafty yet not completely developed. Brandon Crawford, the shortstop for the Giants, believes that when Chris is on he really is one of the best pitchers.

With this incredible stride, he joins only 6 other pitchers that have no hit the Mets. The last pitcher to do this against the Mets at home was in 1969 by Bob Moose. Originally Heston was on Class AAA Sacramento after spring training but was put into the rotation after Matt Cain was injured.

Heston successfully threw a no hitter by using sinkers, changeups, and curveballs. All of which rarely eclipsed 90 mph. He finished with 11 strikeouts in total.
